Used TV as a Computer Monitor

Actually TV can be used as a computer monitor, but the TV output quality is not good as computer monitor. Its not a problem if you want to used TV as a computer monitor for playing games or watch video.

Most TVs these days have three basic types of inputs:
1. coaxial cable input, the same as your cable box or satellite
2. RCA composite input (the yellow, red and white inputs) and
3. S-video connector.

This is the simple step to used TV as a computer monitor:
1. If you have a TV compatible output on your computer such as a S-video port, just take an S-video cable and connect it to your computer and your TV.

2. If you do not have S-video port, mostly computer/laptop have a VGA port by using a VGA to TV converter cable you can used TV as a computer monitor.

3. After you’ve made all the connections, make sure you are on the correct TV video input. Press the input button on your TV or remote until you see your computer’s signal.

Your TV’s usual video signal is called NTSC/PAL. This signal is different compare with the one generated by a computer monitor. Computers monitor use signals measured by pixels, example: 640×480 or 1024×768. The video amplifiers in televisions cannot handle higher resolutions, the maximum resolution of TV is 640×480.
