Computer Help - Hiding Icon in Notification Area

Sometime you feel annoying if there are too many icons in the notification area or also known as system tray. Each icon in notification area represents some program running in Windows, usually utility or other background operation when Windows start up.

This program actually can be off and the icon can be hide from notification area, but to do that you need to edit the system configuration on Windows startup. This method is normal for mostly expert or intermediate computer user, how about for beginner user or non technical user; actually there is another option which is by hiding the icon in notification.

Below is step by step on how to hiding icon in notification area:

1. Right click mouse at clock shown in the notification area

2. Choose “properties” from the pop-up menu; to hide the clock uncheck “show the clock”.

3. Click “Hide inactive icon” and click “customize”. To hide an icon, click from drop-down menu and select “always hide” for which program you want to hide the icon in notification area. Click OK when you done all.

Note that the notification area actually not disappear completely, it just hiding the icon. The Hide/Show arrow on the left lip of the notification area still appears, allow you to see the icon. At least they’re not display the icon all the time.
